Ubuntu Community Is Awesome

I am amazed at how strong the community is for Ubuntu . After looking into the communities for the other distributions I tried I can see why most new users would go with Ubuntu questions are answered I haven't seen very much infighting on the official forums. Over all it's been a positive experience . I would guess however that Linux power users would most likely go with a more "open" distribution, by open I mean being able to get root access and such instead of using sudo root

Finding a Linux Distribution For a New User

So after much downloading, burning images, installing and reinstalling I have decided that I am going with the Ubuntu 9.10 . There are a few reasons as to why I chose this distribution . Simply put its easy to use . I have found as a new user that the Gnome desktop environment is friendlier, there is a lot more support for those of us that haven't learned how to figure it all out on our own.
I did try Kubuntu which is Ubuntu with KDE (K Desktop Environment) and found that I really had no clue and or love for KDE.

All the distributions that I tried where the latest stable releases from their home pages.

Mandriva: Tougher install larger download less options it seemed unfriendly to the new user and the community is smaller then Ubuntu It may have its pros for some users but not for me.
opensuse: easy to install (too easy) was a very large download 4.3 gigs. doesn't seem to have the polish of Ubuntu also tough to figure out software install for new users . I had problems with my graphics card in ATI 3650 HD . It just felt unfriendly to the Linux newb in me.

Linux Testing Phase

So far I have tried out Ubuntu and Mandriva Out of the two Distros ( distributions ) I would have to go with Ubuntu for the most newb friendly install I used the KDE desktop for both . I am going to try opensuse next. I may end up just going with Ubuntu in the end if no other distros offer up the same user friendly experience for me (the Linux newb).

The art of linux

This will be the recorded journey of a Linux nub  formatting his PC to run only  Linux and still manage to get some work done.  I will add as many links and info as I can providing my system hasn't crashed , or I haven't thrown it out the window . Basically this web-log is to prove anyone can learn Linux . The scary thing is I am just learning about Blogs as well so this should be an amusing foray.
